Project | During past extreme flood events on the Elbe between 2002 and 2013, the right-hand Elbe embankment around Klietznick was repeatedly subjected to heavy loads. There are stability deficits in the area in question that require urgent action. The events emphasised the need for flood protection to protect human health and the material goods and infrastructure located on the inside of the flood protection facilities, and flood protection around Klietznick must be guaranteed, taking into account both ecological and economic aspects. This project involves the realisation of a dyke relocation, i.e. approx. 596 m of new dyke construction and dyke slitting. The slitting of the old Elbe dyke will be carried out over a length of 150 metres, taking into account the necessary consolidation period for the new transverse dyke to be constructed. The future floodplain will cover an area of approx. 101 ha and will be reconnected to the Elbe's flooding rhythm. |
